The Rocket City Classic is an annual SEC collegiate basketball game that takes place at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, AL. This event occurs during the regular season of men’s basketball, meaning all stats and final scores from the event will be factored into each participating team’s overall statistics for the season. The Huntsville Sports Commission helps make this event happen along with Birmingham sports marketing company Knight-Eady and the Huntsville Convention and Visitors Bureau. The event has been held in Huntsville for the past 4 years and is scheduled for its 5th in December of 2020.
Pre-race excitement begins well before the marathon at the South Hall of Von Braun Center on Friday and Saturday where runners can pick up their race packets, visit the expo, and see the actual finish line. The expo will start on Friday, and continue on Saturday where there will also be an inside finish for the 5k, 10k, and Kid’s Marathon. This is a full weekend of fun for the whole family.
On race day, SUNDAY, December 14th at 7:00 am, spectators can easily view the start of the race on Monroe Street; just a short walk from the South Hall where the runners will finish. Spectators can also watch the final 3/4 of a mile wind through Big Spring Park or come into the Von Braun Center for the finish line.
For those watching or running, having the finish line inside an enormous hall full of cheerleaders where everyone has a good view makes for one of the most exciting finishes around. For the more adventurous who wish to drive around, a link to our live participant tracking will be available for free.

The original HTC Scholarship Fun Run was first held over 25 years ago and created specifically for the purpose of raising funds for the HTC Scholarship Fund. While the name, date, location and distance of this race have changed, its mission will remain the same. The Scholarship Fund has been the designated charity for this race and the Ditto Landing 10K will continue the mission of its predecessor. Participants will be able to make individual donations to the Scholarship Fund during the race registration process.

The Blossomwood Witches Ride (BWR) is a fun bike ride through the neighborhood of Blossomwood. Women dress up as witches, ride their brooms (bikes) and throw candy to the little monsters (kids) along the posted route. ALL children are welcome to come out and enjoy the free candy. Children are asked to be accompanied by an adult to safely walk on the sidewalks while the witches fly by. Although we do proudly carry the Blossomwood name (due to location), witches from anywhere are welcome to ride!!!

The guaranteed t-shirt deadline has passed however we will have extras along with RunningLane shirts for those last minute signups so you don't go home empty handed.

It’s about that time! We’ll see you Saturday, August 9th at the New Hope Saddle Club Arena for a night of bull riding, barrel racing & more!
